Gayle Reger draws inspiration for Abby Rose Designs from antique samplers and historical themes. A designer since 1997, Gayle also blogs about her stitching and is studying the Ann Merchant sampler, a distant relative.
The Counted Thread & Embroidery Group sponsors the New Designer Showcase to bring to market designers who have never been to a show before. The designers are selected after a rigorous process of submitting a portfolio of their completed designs, a business plan, samples of their charts, and a brief biography. The selection jury is composed of a publisher, a wholesaler, a retailer, a distributor and a manufacturer, who base their selection on the quality of the designs, packaging and instructions, plus innovation, originality and appeal to the market. This is the second CTE New Designer Showcase. Previous winners were Ship’s Manor, My Big Toe, Threedles and NeedleWork Press. The previous winners have also shown at subsequent markets, fulfilling the goal of the New Designer Showcase, to bring designers to market and help them continue to show at TNNA shows and markets.
