The sets come in 4 sizes (8 for 8″ by 8″; 12 for 12″ by 12″; 16 for 16″ by 16″ and 20 for 20″ by 20″). You select the bars that are equal to or greater than your canvas’s longest edge. The bars are adjustable by sliding up and down and side by side so there are many different combinations that can be made. You can adjust with your canvas attached.
